Go Paragliding in Southern Oregon!

Paragliding in Jacksonville, Oregon

On your way to Applegate Lake, during the spring and summer months, you may have noticed colorful parachute like wings soaring over a mountain from the Jacksonville Highway.  What you're seeing is called paragliding often confused with parasailing.  Its canopy resembles a parachute, but what they're doing is similar to hang gliding.  They launch from the top of a mountain and circle in warm columns of rising air called thermals.  Thermals allow both paragliders and hang gliders to sustain flight and even gain thousands of feet of altitude and travel hundreds of miles.
If you’re interested in experiencing what it would be like to paraglide, you’ve come to the right site.  It is the ultimate thrill!  Your heart will pound with anticipation as your instructor and you prepare to run off a mountain. At the moment you launch, you'll feel an adrenaline rush as your instructor and you fly away from the mountain.  You'll experience what it feels like to soar like an eagle high above the mountains.  Whether it's something on your bucket list, or you're truly interested in learning to be pilot, paragliding tandem is great introduction to this adventure sport.

Do you want a unique gift idea?  Buy that special someone an unforgettable experience for a holiday or their birthday.  We offer custom gift certificates for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Graduations, Anniversaries, Father's Day, Mother's Day and birthdays.

Begin your paragliding adventure by calling or texting Michael at 541-941-5400 or email him at epicairtandems@gmail.com,

Paragliding Is On My Bucket List

Bucket lists, we all have them maybe this is on yours.  What could be more thrilling than running off a mountain 2000 foot mountain and experiencing the splendor of flight?  You'll fly over majestic mountains and breathtaking scenery.

The Adventure Sport of Paragliding

If you're interested in becoming a pilot, a tandem flight is a great introduction to the adventure sport of paragliding.  Learn about the equipment used, receive in flight training on how to launch, steer, sustain lift, and land.  We'll discuss how thermals form, how to identify them, and where they're typically located.

Skydiving Like Experience

Are you an adrenaline junkie and you were thinking about going skydiving? Like skydiving, we're supported under a parachute like canopy, and like skydiving, your first experience is with a tandem instructor.

When paragliding you're able to stay in the air at least three times longer, because you're flying not falling. During a typical flight, you climb in an updraft above launch.

How paragliding is like parasailing

ParasailingPicture of parasailing
You won't find any places locally that offer parasailing.  Parasailing is done over the water.  Like parasailing you're high above the terrain underneath a parachute, but you're not attached to a cable being towed behind a boat.  When paragliding, there is no boat, cable, or water.  We fly higher, farther, and for as long as conditions will allow us.

How paragliding is like hang gliding

Conceptually paragliding and hang gliding are the same.  We run off a mountain with a canopy over our heads and attempt to find updrafts that will allow us to climb higher.  A first time experience of paragliding or hang gliding is done with a tandem instructor.  When hang gliding, you're in a prone position, and paragliding you're in seated position.
